ApHogee Two-Step Protein Treatment

ApHogee Two-Step Protein Treatment

ApHogee Two-Step Protein Treatment is a salon-service-strength treatment enriched with magnesium and modified proteins that penetrate hair with the application of heat, dramatically reducing breakage in hair that's damaged, over-bleached, weak, or won't hold colour.

Perfect for hair that needs intensive repair Suited to hair that's too weak or fine for a perm, bleach, straightener or relaxer; over-bleached; won't hold colour; or breaks when combed or brushed.

A step beyond a regular deep conditioner Regular deep conditioners can help with day-to-day dryness, but hair that's genuinely damaged, over-bleached, or breaking often needs something stronger. This treatment is built to fuse protein directly into compromised hair with heat, offering more intensive repair than a standard conditioning treatment.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Magnesium & Modified Proteins: Fuse into hair with heat application to reduce breakage.
  • Salon-Service Strength: More powerful and longer-lasting than standard retail conditioners.
  • Visible Results: A noticeable difference is observed instantly after treatment.
  • Versatile Pre-Treatment Use: Can be used the week before a perm, bleach, or relaxer service on hair too weak or fine to take it safely.
  • Supports Colour Retention: Can be used prior to colour application to help reduce fade.

How the Ingredients Work

  • Hydrolyzed Collagen & Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein: Protein fragments that fuse into the hair shaft when heat is applied, temporarily reinforcing weak or damaged areas.
  • Magnesium Sulfate & Magnesium Carbonate: Part of the formula's active system that works alongside the proteins during heat processing.
  • Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) & Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E): Included to support conditioning alongside the protein-repair action.
  • Citric Acid: Contributes to the treatment's low pH, which is part of how the protein bonding process works.

How to Use and Care for Two-Step Protein Treatment

Prep: Shake well before use. Gently cleanse hair with ApHogee Shampoo for Damaged Hair, rinse thoroughly, and towel-blot dry.

Apply: Apply enough treatment to thoroughly saturate hair, combing through with a wide-tooth comb for even distribution from root to tip.

Targeted Timing: Leave hair uncovered — do not use a plastic cap. Sit under a medium-heat hooded dryer with high airflow (a hand dryer can be used as an alternative, but hair should not be agitated while drying). The hair will become extremely hard while the treatment dries in — this is expected. Do not comb or brush hair while it is dried and hardened.

Storage: Re-wet and gently rinse thoroughly with warm water, removing all excess dried protein, then towel dry. Follow immediately with ApHogee Balancing Moisturizer (Step 2, sold separately).

Safety note (reproduced exactly, not softened): Keep out of eyes. If product gets into the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water — the pH of this treatment is comparable to lemon juice and will cause similar eye irritation.

Who this is for

Anyone with hair that's damaged, over-bleached, too weak or fine for a chemical service, breaking when combed or brushed, or struggling to hold colour.

Who this is NOT for

Not a routine, everyday conditioning treatment — this is a salon-strength, occasional-use treatment for hair with a genuine repair need, always followed by the required second step.

FAQ

Q1. Why does my hair feel hard while the treatment is drying? This is expected — the treatment hardens into the hair as it dries, which is a normal sign the process is working. Avoid combing or brushing hair while it's in this hardened state.

Q2. Do I need a hooded dryer for this to work? Yes — for best results, a medium-heat hooded dryer with high airflow is needed; a hand dryer can be used as an alternative, but avoid agitating the hair while drying.

Q3. Is the Balancing Moisturizer really necessary? Yes — it's the required second step, sold separately, and completes the treatment process after rinsing out the protein treatment.

Q4. What should I do if this gets in my eyes? Rinse thoroughly with clean water immediately — the treatment's pH is comparable to lemon juice and can cause similar eye irritation.
